Description & History of OHS

 
OHS is an occupational health consulting firm established in 1986 by Kent W. Peterson, MD, CIME, MRO, FACOEM, originally in New York, and then in Charlottesville, VA. Our focus is in three areas:

1) We serve as corporate medical director for a number of companies throughout the U.S. In this role we handle the full range of issues and concerns that any company has regarding employee health and safety--from clinical, to health promotion, to environmental health and safety, to cost containment and long-term health care strategy.

2) We consult on special projects for Fortune 100 companies, such as:
  • assessing overall medical department or health and safety programs
  • developing or evaluating new corporate policies or programs (e.g., wellness program, pre-employment exam, drug screening, smoking policy, AIDS guidelines, EAP, etc.)
  • conducting surveys or analyzing data (e.g., salaries, health care costs).

3) We assist our clients with computerized health information systems.

We have developed what is regarded as the most advanced Personal Health Evaluation health risk appraisal program available today. Developed for a large multi-national company, OHS owns the rights and can either process HRAs for clients or license the software. We are developing additional software in several exciting areas.
